IPL PHOTOFACIAL
IPL photofacials can be an effective way to treat hyperpigmentation and other skin irregularities in a fast, efficient, and noninvasive manner.
When you struggle with how your facial skin looks because of sun damage or dark spots, Peak Aesthetics can offer you a skin analysis at our Peak, SC office to determine if you qualify for IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy. A photofacial with IPL is a skin rejuvenation treatment for adult women and men with hyperpigmentation problems on their neck and face. A photofacial may not be an invasive process; however, it can be very effective and create amazing outcomes. Our experienced team uses the advanced Lumecca device to create intense pulses of light energy that heat the skin just enough to set off the natural healing process and increase the production of collagen. As the added nutrients take effect, you should begin to see a healthier complexion with an improved tone and fewer spots of pigmentation.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR IPL?
IPL works deep within the layers of your skin to correct many complexion blemishes (especially sun spots and brown lesions) with little or no recovery time. Candidates for IPL treatments at Peak Aesthetics may have many problems with their skin, such as sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), rough texture, large pores, redness, freckles, sun and age spots, or spider veins. We will examine your skin to see if you will benefit from a photofacial during your initial consultation.
HOW DOES IPL WORK?
A photofacial is completed at our Peak, SC office in about 20 – 30 minutes in one of our minor procedure rooms if performed alone. To prepare for the IPL facial, the technician will wash and dry the skin to be treated before protecting your eyes with special shields. The IPL photofacial is performed with Lumecca technology. Our staff will use a handheld wand that will pass over the skin while emitting pulses of light energy. While many patients may have some discomfort during the IPL photofacial, it is usually bearable given the quick treatment time.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM IPL?
No recovery time is needed with an IPL photofacial. You will leave your appointment with your complexion a little red and inflamed. This will subside on its own in about a day — it can be masked with cosmetics if you prefer. We suggest patients use an ointment on the skin to minimize any irritation and speed healing. It may also help to take an anti-inflammatory medication to help ease swelling. After 2 – 5 days, the irregularities that rested under the skin will come to the surface and then begin to flake away. It is necessary to keep your skin protected with sunscreen at all times after an IPL photofacial and to not pick at the flaking skin. While you should see some visible improvements after your first treatment, your complexion will attain the best results after several IPL photofacial sessions. Our team suggests approximately 3 – 6 treatments performed monthly at Peak Aesthetics.
